Established in 1990, Food Liaison Pty Ltd has provided expert advice on food regulation to the Australian and New Zealand food industries for over twenty years in the form of consultancy and publishing. Over this time Food Liaison has written many successful applications to have the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code amended on behalf of multinational companies as well as smaller companies. We have also helped numerous companies ensure that the food labels are fully compliant, and provided general advice of food regulation. Food Liaison commenced a loose-leaf publishing service for the Food Standards Code in 1990 and later on disc adopting the FOODfind® brand. Food Liaison is an Associate Member of the Australian Food and Grocery Council. |

David Panasiak has been consulting to the food industry since 1990. He has assisted many national and international companies and organisations achieve amendments to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and to ensure their food labels are compliant. Before consulting he worked in both the private and public sectors and brings an understanding of both to his clients. Immediately prior to consulting David was a Senior Food Technologist with the food regulation area of the Commonwealth Government holding positions with both the Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs (Attorney Generals Department) and the Department of Health. His industry experience included Coles Myer Ltd and FJ Walker Ltd. David is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology and a member of the Australian Association of Food Professionals. In 2009 David decided to widen his knowledge base on food matters by undertaking study towards the Le Cordon Bleu Graduate Diploma in Gastronomy at the University of Adelaide, adding to the Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Science & Technology) obtained from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. |

Jim Gruber joined Food Liaison in 2010 bringing 15 years recent experience in the Australia New Zealand food regulation process. He is the former Principal Food Technologist with Food Standards Australia New Zealand where he was responsible for risk management of issues relevant to new technologies, the commodity standards, processing aids, the use of food additives, labelling and materials in contact with food in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. He provided technical advice about food manufacture and food regulation to the FSANZ Board, Ministers, other agencies and public enquirers. Jim has represented Australia at the Codex Alimentarius Commission, leading the delegation for the Codex Committee on Milk and Milk Products for 6 years, as well as providing advice to the delegation on Food Additives and Contaminants. Jim also lectured on Food and Consumer Science on a part time basis at the University of Canberra in 2008 and 2009. He also conducted a short course in food technology at Anhui Agricultural University in Hefei, China in December 2008. Prior to joining Food Standards Australia New Zealand, Jim had relevant industry experience with Uncle Tobys, Masterfoods and Cottees, as well as having been a restaurant proprietor. Jim holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of New South Wales. He is a Professional Member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology and the Chair of the Institute’s National Food Policy and Regulation Group. |
