Food Liaison Pty Ltd monitors the activities of regulatory bodies in Australia and New Zealand. We have a database on the proposals and applications under consideration by the Australia New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA). We can offer advice on current food standards and proposed food standards. We can assist with comments to ANZFA and we can write applications to ANZFA for changes to food standards. David Panasiak (Principal of Food Liaison) and our other consultancy staff have established relationships with various government organisations that deal with food in Australia and New Zealand. Food Liaison Pty Ltd first published a loose-leaf version of the Australian Food Standards Code in January 1990 and the loose-leaf service has been continuous ever since. We later developed a computer disk version of the Australian Food Standards Code marketed under the FOODfind brand. The FOODfind disk contains much more than the Australian Food Standards Code. David Panasiak (Principal) has been consulting to the food industry since 1990. David trained in Food Science and Technology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He as worked in the private sector and in the public sector and brings an understanding of both to his clients. David worked in the meat industry for F.J. Walker Limited and later as a food technologist in the retail industry with G.J. Coles & Coy Ltd. (now Coles-Myer Ltd.). In the public sector he worked in the food regulatory area of the Commonwealth Government. This was the system prior to the current Australia New Zealand Food Authority, in the Department of Health where he acted as secretary to the Food Science and Technology Subcommittee of the National Health and Medical Research Council. He was also responsible for the coordination of food recalls a role he took with him to the Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs (FBCA). When food regulation was split between Health and the FBCA, David moved to the secretariat of the Food Standards Committee at the FBCA. He also acted as secretary to the Uniform Food Law Legislation Committee. In 1990 he formed Food Liaison Pty Ltd and has been consulting to the food industry ever since. Since that time he has also published the Food Standards Code in loose-leaf format and later on computer disk under the FOODfind brand. David is a regular contributor to the World Food Regulation Review Journal and was invited to join their Advisory Board in 1997. In July 1999 David was elected a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology. |
