| New Zealand Food (Supplemented Food) Standard issued, to commence 31 March 2010: |
| This standard replaces regulation of food-type dietary supplements previously regulated by the Dietary Supplements Regulations 1985. Previously the Dietary Supplements Regulations 1985covered both ‘food-type’ and ‘therapeutic-type’ products. ‘Food-type’ dietary supplements have now been excluded from the ambit of the Dietary Supplements Regulations 1985 and are now regulated by this standard. ‘Food-type’ dietary supplements fall within the definition of ‘supplemented food’ in this standard. New Zealand intends that ‘supplemented food’ will eventually be provided for under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code, and accordingly considers the New Zealand Food (Supplemented Food) Standard to be an interim arrangement. |
